Susan brings more than 25 years of experience with a client portfolio that spans several industries, including construction management, commercial real estate, retail, medical research, and engineering. Susan has spent her career working alongside company founders. She has partnered with them to build the company infrastructure -- creating and implementing policy and procedure, overseeing the back-office operations, and ensuring the successful integration of the back-office with the core operations -- all while increasing the profitability of the firm. In her role as Chief Operating Officer, in addition to leading teams and the back-office operations, she helped position companies for a sale transaction - overseeing and implementing the due diligence process and successfully integrating the firm into the new company’s operations.
She is passionate about helping founders achieve their goals and does this seamlessly by offering financial and business management advice as well as hands-on assistance to provide them with the critical knowledge that they need to lead the firm -- and sleep at night!
Susan holds an MBA with a focus on Entrepreneurship from Simmons University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Certificate in Human Resources, both from Bentley University. She served on the Board of Directors for the Simmons College School of Management Alumnae Association for three years as COO, Treasurer/Clerk, and Associate Board Member. As an active member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Susan was nominated for a Pinnacle Award for Achievement in Management. She was also honored by the Society of Marketing Professional Services with a Marketing Communications Award, which recognizes teams who create outstanding communications vehicles for architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms.
Susan has been featured on The Mass Construction Show - not once, but twice - where she was interviewed about her experience in working with a company through the bankruptcy process, including her key take-aways for bringing your business from good to great. She was referenced in Her Place at the Table, by Deborah Kolb, which details advice for women from women about how to navigate success in leadership roles. She is a volunteer mentor with Dress for Success of Western Massachusetts, where she devotes time working with her mentee to help her maintain focus on her career goals and empower her to succeed.
In 2001, Susan began attending The Philosophy Foundation in Waltham, MA – the beginning of her study and practice in meditation. In 2013 she completed the Jon Kabat-Zinn Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program at the UMass Medical Center, in Worcester, MA and in 2019 she completed the SMART Program at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. She attributes much of her success in business and her personal well-being to the study and daily practice of meditation and mindfulness.
